KENOJUAK ASHEVAK (1927-2013)
Note:
Works from this exhibition were created via sugar-lift etching, a novel print-making method to Inuit artists at this time. A liquid comprised of India ink, Ivory Snow and Gum Arabic, and corn syrup was poured or painted directly on to the etching plate. A white ground was used to create a painterly resist. The result of this process created bold and looser images. “Produced in collaboration with southern artists/printmakers Harold Klunder and Beatriz Sobrado Sámano, these works offer a brilliant reinterpretation of Kenojuak’s classic iconic style.”
