Provenance:
Private Collection, Ontario
Note:
Christopher Kier is a Canadian master of the centuries-old encaustic painting technique which consists of combining pigment with beeswax and applying the mixture to canvas or other surfaces. More recently, he has taken on mixed media; his works consist of organic forms and sculptural qualities that evoke a sense of archeological ruin.
Kier has been a prominent actor in the Toronto art scene since the early 90s. He graduated from OCAD in 1987 and was the founding member of the art collective “Bandit” and the artist-run gallery LOOP. His work has been widely exhibited across North America and Europe and is included in the private collections of Nordstrom, Air Canada and the Park Hyatt.
