Of pear shape with a trumpet mouth and raised on a pronounced footring, the whole glazed white with turquoise to the interior, the exterior decoration of five five-clawed dragons amid clouds and flaming pearls encircling the body and wrapping around the neck, gilding to rim and above the base

By repute, Dr. Franklin received this vase from one of his clients many of whom were wealthy Western educated Chinese from prominent families. Privately acquired from his family.
